Joan Sylvia McCloskey, 87, of Fallowfield Township, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24, 2022, with her loving family by her side. Born in Donora on Jan. 14, 1935, Joan was the daughter of the late Walter and Wilma Matthews Nogy. Christian by faith, Joan was a member of First United Methodist Church in Charleroi, the Charleroi Athene Club and the Charleroi Garden Club. Joan was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be deeply missed. Surviving to cherish Joan’s memory are her sons, Kelly (Marla) McCloskey of Belle Vernon and Scott (Jennifer) McCloskey of Youngwood; her daughter, Holly (James) Kauffman of Greensburg; her brother, Walter Nogy; her grandchildren, Mitchell (Alexa) McCloskey, Matthew McCloskey, Keven (Alicia) McCloskey, Joel (Stephanie) Houston, Sarah McCloskey, Larkin McCloskey and Matthew (Molly) Kauffman; and great-grandchildren, Tanner and Connor Kauffman and Bryson Houston and Alyce McCloskey. Joan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph “Rudy” McCloskey; and her sister, Cherie Perlmutter. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, with Pastor Randy Ord officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to be made in Joan’s memory to the Redstone Gives Team — Benevolent Care Fund, 126 Mathews St., Suite 2800, Greensburg, PA 15601 (https://redstone.org/make-a-donation) or to a charity of your choice.
