Motion filed to unseal records in fatal shooting

The Mon Valley Independent and two other local newspapers, represented by a legal service that defends the freedom of the press, have filed an emergency motion to unseal court records related to a shooting in Rostraver Township earlier this month. Represented by the Virginia-based Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, the Mon Valley Independent, the Observer-Reporter and the Herald-Standard are asking a Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court judge to unseal the arrest warrant for Keven Van Lam, 55.
