John Nicholas Plavetich – Monessen

John Nicholas Plavetich passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, 2022, at Country Meadows, Bridgeville. He was born on Aug. 5, 1944, son of the late Nicholas and Frances Kovatich Plavetich. John worked at the Westmoreland County Courthouse until his retirement. He loved being outdoors, especially when fishing and serving as a proud member of the Seven Springs Ski Patrol. John was passionate about history and soul music, as well as being a proud native of Monessen. He was an avid amateur photographer and enjoyed sharing his photographs with others. His sense of humor and storytelling was always present with family and friends. He will be missed and will always be remembered in our hearts. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Drop; brother-in-law, Louis Drop; niece, Kim Anderson; and brother-in-law, Jack McElroy. He is survived by his sister, Frances McElroy; nephews, John McElroy (Hilary) and Ryan McElroy (Stacey); and great-nephews, Jack, Nick and Callan McElroy. A memorial gathering will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen.
