Benedek appointed new Elizabeth Township commissioner

James Benedek was sworn in as an Elizabeth Township commissioner by Magisterial District Judge Beth Mills Monday.
Benedek fills the board vacancy left by the resignation of Richard Algeri Nov. 7, and will serve Ward 5 through 2023.
Benedek is a technology and media teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School and a 30-year resident of Elizabeth Township. He served on the Elizabeth Forward school board in an interim capacity. He has been recognized for his contributions to EF’s thriving musical theater program and the Mount Vernon Youth Football Association.
