Leroy E. Walters – North Belle Vernon

Leroy E. Walters, 77, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at Mon Valley Care Center, Carroll Township. Born Aug. 26, 1945, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Roy T. and Margaret Beato Walters. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Walters was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and a former member of Pricedale Union Church. He was retired from East Allegheny School District, where he worked as a science teacher. After his retirement, he worked at the North Versailles movie theater where he continued to keep in touch with his students. Leroy was well known for his philanthropy to various organizations such as the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Association and Earth Justice along with the community and his family. He was also a health and fitness enthusiast and loved to play softball. He is survived by brother, Larry Walters of Monessen; two sisters, Jean Miller of Lynnwood, and Patricia Sholtis of Belle Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his five sisters, Barbara Sadler, Sally Harkins, Violet Brown, Nancy Dexter and Kathy Lipari. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC with the Rev. Mary Kay Glunt of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
