William F. Brna, 91, of Monongahela, Carroll Township, passed away on Nov. 15, 2022, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. Born in Roscoe on Feb. 8, 1931, Bill was the son of the late Josef A. and Teresa Ferenchik Brna. After his graduation from St. Fidelis High School in Herman, Pa., Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Vincent College. Serving in the U.S. Air Force, he was stationed at Moses Lake Army Air Base in Washington, and for over 40 years worked as an interior underwriter for the Catholic Knights of America and the State of Pennsylvania, from where he retired in 1997. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Monongahela, he attended morning Mass regularly. He enjoyed ornithology (the scientific study of birds), especially raptors and hawks, and photography and genealogy. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lyn Sorensen Brna; a son, Joe Brna of Monongahela; three daughters, Resa Stauffer of Monongahela, Ruth (Mel) Lewis of West Newton and Mai Brna of Monongahela; seven grandchildren, Maggie Lehman, Emily, Eilizabeth and Marissa Venanzi, Katie and Maggie Lewis and Jonnie McDuffie; three great-grandchildren, Molly Petrell and Kailey and Aubrieana Lehman; and a son-in-law, Randy Venanzi of Monongahela. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen Venanzi; a son-in-law, Mark Stauffer; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Helen) Brna, John (Eilizabeth) Brna, Frank (Irma) Brna and Michael (Ann) Brna; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary (Charles) Marciak and Sr. Jane Francis OSF.
