Veterans burn old flags

Monessen VFW Post 1190 and American Legion Post 28 members held their annual flag-burning ceremony Thursday night at the Herman Mihalich Memorial Boat Launch Park in Monessen.  VFW Commander Ron Chromulak said they make an effort each year to encourage the public to deposit their worn, unused or unwanted flags in the bin located outside Monessen Public Library or bring them to the burning ceremony so they can be disposed of in a respectful manner.
