Volunteers plant trees in Monessen parks

According to Marc Bellora, a member of Monessen’s Shade Tree Commission, the goal of the commission is the “Rebirth of the City — One Tree at a Time.” On Saturday, a group of volunteers and city employees brought that goal 14 trees closer to being realized. Braving the cold and sputtering rain, volunteers from the Boy Scouts, the Monessen Middle School Student Council and the high school chapter of the National Honor Society, assisted by the public works department, planted a dozen trees along the walking track in Monessen City Park and two more in Eastgate Memorial Park.
