Irlean Dragan, 100, formerly of Monessen, passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022. A daughter of the late Matthew and Henrietta Sandusky Hart, she was born in Star Junction on Aug. 30, 1922. A resident of Monessen most of her life, she was an avid golfer and belonged to two bowling leagues until she was 94 years old. Irlean had always been adventurous, as at age 20 she followed her husband, Bill, across the country to wherever he was stationed in the Army Air Corps. The two of them traveled extensively in the United States, Canada and Mexico. They also were active in local chorales and in their church choir. Irlean was a member of the Lynnwood Lutheran Church in Belle Vernon. A loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, she is survived by a daughter and son in-law, Billie and David Hollenbaugh of Mercer, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Brian and Anita Dragan of Linthicum Heights, Md., and Dr. Douglas and Andrea Dragan of Hookstown, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Ruck of Chattanooga, Tenn. In addition to her parents, Irlean was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Dragan, on Nov. 29, 1999. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating at Lynnwood Lutheran Church, 900 Washington Road, Belle Vernon. Arrangements have been entrusted to FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.
