Cougars edged in WPIAL title game

Eighth-seeded Charleroi’s Cinderella run through the WPIAL Class 1A playoffs came to an end with a 3-2 loss to second-seeded Winchester Thurston in the championship game at Highmark Stadium Friday night. The Bears (16-2-1) became back-to-back WPIAL champions and are the first team other than Greensburg Central Catholic to beat the Cougars (17-3) this season.
