Sports Stew: ‘Sissy’ was tops in Valley gymnastics

There aren’t too many grandmothers around who can still turn cartwheels, but Sissy Cieply Jochmann – a 1971 graduate of Monessen High School – can turn them perfectly. Her real first name is Betty, but she goes by Sissy, and she happens to be, according to sports historian Steve Russell, “Probably the most talented female gymnast to ever come out of the Mon Valley.”
