Vera (Soroka) Trona, age 92, formerly of Donora, passed away at The Residence at Hilltop, Carroll Township, on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022. She was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Belle Vernon, the daughter of the late Theodore and Irene (Pawlack) Soroka. A devout Catholic, Vera was a longtime member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Donora Campus, where she was an active volunteer with ravioli/spaghetti dinners, fish dinners, festivals and the Christian Mothers Women’s Guild. She worked for many years at Donora Sportswear. Vera enjoyed baking and cooking and being a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She and her husband, Tony, enjoyed social activities like bowling and bocce with their friends over the years. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children: son, Anthony J Trona and wife Carol of Canonsburg, Pa., and daughter Marlene Trona Marsico and husband Vince of Uniontown, Pa.; grandchildren, Philip D. Trona and wife Vicky of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mario A. Trona of Cleveland, Ohio; her sister, Martha Zeli of Belle Vernon, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Anthony Trona. Also preceding her in death are three brothers and six sisters. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second St. Extension, Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Donora Campus, at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
