Helen D. Jakela, 90, of Donora, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at McMurray Hills Manor in McMurray, Pa. She was born Aug. 23, 1932, in New Jersey, daughter of the late Max Gelzon and the late Anna Riech Gelzon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jakela; a son, Anthony Donato; a daughter, Anna Kyle; and a brother, Carl Gelzon. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Margaret Ohm of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Gelzon; and a brother-in-law, Frank (Faustina) Jakela. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish Donora Campus at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2022. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
