Lighthouse rededicated in memory of former McKeesport mayor

As he noticed a group of cyclists pass by on Sunday, state Sen. Jim Brewster told a crowd at McKees Point Marina that the vision of late former mayor Joe Bendel had come true. The Democratic state senator from McKeesport was speaking to an audience filled with the family and friends of Bendel as they gathered for the rededication of a lighthouse in a parking lot that sits between Joe Bendel Way (Water Street) and the Youghiogheny River — near the Great Allegheny Passage trail, the Palisades event center and the marina.
