James J. Hazy – Monessen

James J. Hazy, 91, of Monessen, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at his home. He was born on June 27, 1931, in Monessen, son of the late Peter J. Hazy and Catherine Fogel Hazy. Jim was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a graduate of Monessen High School. He served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Jim had worked and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation at its Monessen plant. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie 2399 in Monessen, having served as the club secretary for 43 years. Jim was a member of the former Croatian Home and Hungarian Club, both in Monessen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Ann (Relich) Hazy in 2020; and by his three brothers, Peter C., Stephen A. and Michael J. Hazy. He is survived by his daughter, Hope A. Hyde of Monessen; his granddaughter, Kali (Tom) Gmiter of Brentwood; and by several nieces and nephews. The family gathered in DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, for a private viewing, followed by a funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating.
