By obits

Nicholas Kutska, 94, of Monessen, passed away on Sept. 17, 2022, at home with his family by his side. He was born on Dec. 5, 1927, to John Kutska and Helen Habulak Kutska. A graduate of Monessen High School and California State College, he spent his career as a public school teacher, teaching the Russian language and retiring from Beth Center School District in 1987. He was a talented musician, playing with the local firemen’s bands in his youth, and enjoyed attending concerts and opera performances in his retirement. He was a member of St. John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church and because of his love of teaching, he periodically conducted Russian language classes for interested parishioners. He is survived by daughters, Helen M. and Melanie A. Kutska of Purcellville, Va.; and a son, Nicholas J. Kutska of Monessen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Florence Zadrozny Kutska; two brothers, George and Charles Kutska; and four sisters, Mary, Helen and Pauline Kutska and Anne Kutska Wilson. A private funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, with the Very Rev. Father Constantine Curchin officiating. Interment followed in Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME, Monessen. Condolences for the family may be left at www.billicksfuneralhome.com.
