Joanne Frances Bonessi, 85, of Mt. Lebanon, died on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022. She was born in McKeesport on April 6, 1937, and is the daughter of the late Joseph Paul and Estelle Cougan Farrell and was the wife of the late Dr. James Vincent Bonessi, who died Feb. 28, 2018. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School and of the Catholic University of America. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, she is survived by her children, James (Alaina Brooks) Bonessi of Sarasota, Fla.; J. Paul (Nelee Sim) Bonessi of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Lynne (John) Martinelli of Upper St. Clair; grandchildren, Michael Martinelli, Jaclyn Martinelli and Oscar James “Ozzie” Bonessi; and siblings, Dr. J. Paul “Buzzy” (Madina Gerasimov, M.D.) Farrell of Glen Cove, N.Y.; Dr. Michael Patrick (Dr. Madeline Schmitt) Farrell of Rochester, N.Y.; Gail (Frank) Farrell Moyes of Boulder, Colo.; C. Timothy Farrell of Merritt Island, Fla.; Theresa (the late Ian D.) Farrell Rosenberg of Mt. Lebanon; and Cindy (Bruce) Farrell Lichtenstein of Ashland, Mass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, attorney J. Terrence Farrell. Family and friends will gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177.) Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett Ave., White Oak, PA 15131. Burial will follow.
