Burnell ‘Bud’ A. Gency – Fallowfield Township

Burnell “Bud” A. Gency, 90, of Fallowfield Township, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, at Allegheny General Hospital. He was born in Nemacolin on Sept. 16, 1931, son of Stephen and Mary Sloboda Gency. Bud was retired from Charleroi Paint & Glass after working for 20 years as a glass cutter. After retiring, he became the number one assistant for Mon Valley Key Services. Bud was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Gospel Alliance Church in Rostraver, the Charleroi American Legion Post No. 22 and the Mon Valley Leathernecks. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Ellen Cratty Gency; six children, Pamela Gency of Fallowfield Township, Stephen Gency of Carroll Township, Keith (Beverly) Whitlatch of Scottdale, Linda Zuccarini of Belle Vernon, Deborah (John) Forsythe of Belle Vernon and Bruce Whitlatch of Deemston Boro; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Gordon Gency; sister-in-law, Nancy Gency; and his best buddy, Ryan Redman. Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Irene Gency; granddaughters, Rachel Behers and Sheri McCauley; grandson, Michael Justin Luzzi; and brother, Gordon Gency. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC. 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where funeral services will begin at 6:30 with the Rev. Brad Sickler.
