Edna Ruth Chadderton Lavins – Donora, formerly of Crucible, Pa.

Edna Ruth Chadderton Lavins of Donora, formerly of Crucible, Pa., devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Aug. 28, 2022. She was the youngest child of Harriet Edna Wright Chadderton and Clarence Chadderton. Edna was married to John Anthony Lavins from Dec. 18, 1965, until his passing on March 12, 2002. In that time, she was blessed with two sons, Paul Jason and John Michael Lavins (deceased). She was Grandma Edna to Daniel Joshua and Michael James Lavins (Paul and Jen), as well as Brian Michael Lavins (John). She was great-grandma to Bevin, Baylor, Kambrie and Aubrie (Brian). She was known to have baked “healing brownies” many years ago, which are known to have worked to this day. She also loved soap operas, game shows, Hallmark movies and crossword puzzles. Surviving family include one son, Paul and his wife Jennifer. Also surviving are one sister, Jennie Woods; and one brother, David Chadderton. Edna was preceded in death by sisters, Betty McCullough, Maxine Vera Fontanarosa and Peggy L. Paget; as well as a brother, Daniel Chadderton. There will be no formal service or viewing. Per the wishes of the deceased, Edna will be cremated, and there will be a private remembrance at a later date. “I truly never learned what the words ‘I miss you’ were until I reached for Mom’s hand, and it wasn’t there…” — author unknown.
