By obits

Nancy Kovac Mollise, 78, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, surrounded by her beloved husband, Sal, children and family. Nancy was born in McKeesport on Sept. 22, 1943. She was the devoted, caring and ever-loving wife of her husband of 54 years, Salvatore Paul Mollise. Nancy and Sal would have been celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary in a few weeks. Nancy is survived by husband Sal, along with her three children, Maria (Robert Svedberg) Mollise of Atlanta, Ga., Michele (Michael) Pirrone of Atlanta, Ga., and Salvatore Paul (Jennifer Bickerstaff) Mollise II of Elizabeth Township; sister, Dorothy Kovac of McKeesport; sister-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Whiteacre of Washington; grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Svedberg; and step-grandchildren, Clay, Trinity, Madison and Beau Pirrone. Nancy was predeceased by parents, John and Anna Mital Kovac; sisters, Charlotte and Joan Kovac; and brother, John Kovac, all of McKeesport; and parents-in-law, Frank and Eleanor Mollise of West Mifflin. Nancy was a dedicated member of St. Michael’s Catholic Parish in Elizabeth Township for more than 50 years and truly enjoyed working the Lenten fish fry and crafting palm crosses for Palm Sunday and Easter services. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School in McKeesport and was retired from Great American Federal and Three Rivers Bank, where she enjoyed helping and guiding her banking customers for several decades. She was also a member of Jednota and Elizabeth Township Seniors, and a breast cancer survivor, participating in numerous Race for the Cure walks over the decades. Nancy’s true joy came from being with her close-knit family and her lifelong Scenery Drive neighbors and friends. She was known throughout the community for her incredible hospitality, delicious homemade meals, warm hugs, caring letters, Slovak pastries and her and Sal’s manicured gardens. Friends will be received at PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 221 North Second Ave., Elizabeth, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022. A funeral Mass will be at St. Michael’s Church at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, with the Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.) Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Central Food Pantry, P.O. Box 47, Buena Vista, PA 15018, or UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, 5150 Centre Ave., Suite 1B, Pittsburgh, PA 15232. Offer condolences at www.bekavacfuneralhome.com.
