Norman Ray Core, 89, of New Eagle, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, in his home. He was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Long Branch, the son of Ernest and Eva Thompson Core. Norm was a 1950 graduate of California High School and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was employed as a dairy manager at the former A&P in Monongahela and retired as a manager from Giant Eagle in West Newton. He was a past Exalted Ruler at the former Charleroi Elks Lodge 494. Norm was on Monongahela Area Library’s Board for many years. He was passionate about golf, both watching and playing. Norm was also an avid reader. The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to ViaQuest Hospice, Joan Holets, Jamie Georgiana and Rosalyn Christopher for the wonderful care and support. Norman is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jane Lee Carson Core; daughter, Jimi McFall and husband John of Monongahela; son, Mick Core of Monongahela; two grandchildren, Erin Carson and husband Jeremy, and Jay McFall; three great-grandchildren, Addison, Rylee and Chloe Carson; sister, Linda Barli and husband Roy of Dunlevy; sister-in-law, Donna Core of Roscoe; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lane Core; and sister, Mary Alice Segzda and her husband Tony. At Norm’s request, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are entrusted to FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC. Memorial contributions may be made to Monongahela Area Library, 813 W. Main St., Monongahela, PA 15063.
