Waynesburg Central tops Bentworth, 4-2

After allowing the opening three goals of their Section 2-1A contest against Waynesburg Wednesday night at Ellsworth Field, the young Bentworth girls’ soccer team didn’t fold.
Instead, the Bearcats responded right away with their first goal of the season after the 3-0 deficit and then carried much of the play in the second half, eventually trimming the Raiders’ lead to one goal.
Despite the valiant effort, Waynesburg’s Ashlyn Basinger netted a late goal in the final minute to ice the game and gave Bentworth a 4-2 setback.
