Caleb VanHooser – Liberty Township, Ohio

By obits

Caleb VanHooser, age 19, of Liberty Township, Ohio, was tragically taken from us Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, in Riley, Ind. He was born Feb. 7, 2003, in Monongahela, son of Amanda (Roscoe) Bright. Caleb was a 2022 graduate of Lakota East High School in Liberty Township, Ohio. It was there that Caleb worked hard both in the classroom and on the field. As a member of the Thunderhawks’ football and track and field teams, he cultivated his athletic abilities and was able to achieve a full scholarship to Indiana State University and join their football program. Beyond sports, Caleb was taking up a major in biology with the dream of one day becoming a dentist. Caleb had a shining light around him. He was referred as that kid, full of life, phenomenal athlete, respectful and a really great kid. His passing has left a deep void not only for his family, but his friends, teammates, teachers and coaches as well. Caleb was an example of how a young man should be and was on the path of hard work and success. In addition to his parents, surviving to cherish his memory are his brothers, Demond Jordan Jr., Roscoe Bright Jr. and Justin Bright; his sisters, Ryan Jordan and Jaice Bright; beloved cousin, Aleisha Bell; his Paw-Sister Pepper; grandmothers Robin Swaney, Linda Thomson and MaryAnn Lutz; uncles Josh VanHooser and James VanHooser; along with a substantial number of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and teammates. He was preceded in death by grandfather, James Lutz; grandmothers, Gloria Freeman Bright and Marlene Bright; and cousin, Nicholas Bell Sr. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, and from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022. A continued time of fellowship and to further celebrate Caleb’s life will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, at Mon Valley Country Club, where services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Howell officiating, followed by a luncheon at 2 p.m. To share a condolence, please visit www.massafrafuneralhome.com.
