Catherine ‘Dee’ Valla – Charleroi

Catherine “Dee” Valla, 88, of Charleroi, passed away on Aug. 19, 2022, in Havencrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Catherine was born March 17, 1934, in Elrama. She was the daughter of the late Eli and Jennie Victor Plesa. Catherine was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Roscoe before it closed and was a waitress for many years at Santoni’s Restaurant in Charleroi. She enjoyed going to the casino with her niece, Barbara. Catherine loved spending time talking and being with her friends and family, whom she loved the most. Surviving to cherish Catherine’s memory are her niece, Barbara Ford; her great-nephew, Joseph Desiderio; and her close friend, Cindy Watkins. She will be missed dearly by all her great friends at the Crest Avenue Apartments. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Valla; her sisters, Ann Lytle and Mary Volchieff; and her brother, Nicholas Gulli. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. 2022. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
