William Lee Walters – Chula Vista, Calif., formerly of Belle Vernon

William Lee Walters, 71, of Chula Vista, Calif., formerly of Belle Vernon, passed away on June 15, 2022, after a short illness. Bill was born on Aug. 29, 1950, son of the late William Henry Walters and Rose Kanopski Walters. Bill graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1970 and then joined the Navy. He retired after 26 years of service as a Senior Chief Boatmaster. At the time of his death, he was employed by the United States Post Office in Chula Vista, Calif. Bill was an avid Steelers fan and never missed a game. He leaves behind his sisters, Denise Walters Stasko (Edward Sr.), Roxanne Walters Williams (George) and Pam Walters Cain (Matthew); brothers, David Walters and Jeffrey Walters (Ursula); and longtime companion, Lolet Dunn. Bill enjoyed coming home at Thanksgiving and spending time with his nieces and nephews: Edward Jr, Branden, Renee, Christina, Noah, Mackenzie, Madison, Matthew, Brock, Gavin, Mark and Max. There was a private family viewing on July 8, 2022, at Glen Abby Memorial Park & Mortuary in Bonita, Calif. This was followed by a full military service at Miramar National Cemetery which was attended by his many Navy friends and coworkers from the Chula Vista Post Office.
