Stephen M. Hela, 76, of Jefferson Township, Perryopolis, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Concordia of South Hills, surrounded by his family.  He was born July 21, 1945, in Fayette City, son of George Hela and Elizabeth Brody Hela. He was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Belle Vernon and the American Slovanic Citizens Club of Fayette City. He is survived by his wife, Georgetta McCrory Hela; daughter, Michelle Battistella and husband Gene of Moon Township; grandson, Domenic Battistella; two sisters, Margaret Buchina and Betty Acklin. Also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George Hela and John G. Hela. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022, at ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME, Fayette City, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, in the funeral home with Father Stephen Gresh officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
