Hans Otto Werner – Rostraver Township

Hans Otto Werner, 86, of Rostraver Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2022. Born in Netzchkau, East Germany, on Sept. 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Paul and Christine Lorenzen Werner. Hans escaped East Germany in 1953 and worked in Dusseldorf, West Germany, for three years before immigrating to America in 1956. He was a Rostraver Township resident for 57 years, was Christian by faith and attended Fells United Methodist Church. He established and owned Werner Welding until 2020 and was a member of the American Welding Society. He leaves behind his wife, Susan Mehrtens Werner; sons, Hans O. Werner Jr., Philip (Tara) Werner Sr. and Paul (Dee) Werner; daughters, Shayne (Reynold) DiMaggio and Melissa (Kevin) Walters; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma E. Werner; and two grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Following the service, Hans will be interred in Round Hill Cemetery, next to his first wife, Norma.
