Lee S. Barbao – Donora

By obits

Lee S. Barbao, of Donora, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at her home. She was born in Weston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Thomas Sandy and the late Erma Wyant Sandy and was always a proud West Virginian. She was a longtime member of the former First United Methodist Church in Donora. Affectionately known as “Miss Lee,” Lee worked as a school bus driver for 42 years for the Ringgold School District and was loved by all the kids she drove the bus for. Lee always put her family first and had a great bond with her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye. An avid cook and baker, Lee was known for her homemade apple and berry pies and frequently handpicked the berries. Everyone always says that their mother was a great cook and baker until they had homemade food by Mrs. Barbao. Lee had a great deal of love for animals, especially when it came to dogs. She loved tending to her garden and always took pride in her flower beds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Kenneth Barbao Sr., on April 15, 2022; a sister, Eula Peters; and three brothers, Darrel, Thomas and Francis Sandy. Mrs. Barbao was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving to cherish her memory are her three sons, Eric Barbao of California, Kenneth Barbao Jr. of Donora and Thomas (Audra) Barbao of Donora; five grandchildren, Nick, Jessie Lee, Brayden, Ava and Elle; and numerous nieces and nephews.   Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, June 17, 2022. A service will be held in the funeral home at noon Friday, June 17, 2022, with Pastor Sandy Fitzgibbons officiating. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Washington County Humane Society, 1527 PA-136, Eighty-Four, PA 15330, in Lee’s name.
