Raymond W. Yokimcus, 90, of Charleroi, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Duquesne, son of the late Victor and Stella Norbert Yokimcus. Mr. Yokimcus was a 1949 graduate of Duquesne High School. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, TSGT 2nd ANGLICO FMF, from 1950 to 1955. For his service, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and Korean PUC. Raymond was employed for over 35 years as a PBX man with Bell Telephone. He enjoyed traveling and sailing. As a decades-long Steelers season ticket holder, he was there with Alberta for the Immaculate Reception. Ray was also a member of American Legion Post 801 in Roscoe, as well as the French Club and Slovak Club of North Charleroi. Surviving are two brothers, Frederick Yokimcus (Carol) of White, Ga., and Floyd Yokimcus (Cathy, deceased) of Wilmington, Del.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alberta M. (Greenlee) Yokimcus; five brothers, Stanley, George “Yak,” Walter “Whitey,” Victor “Jiggs” and Joseph “Buck”; and three sisters, Eva “Sis” Yokimcus, Betty Olah and Eleanor Romanelli. Friends will be received from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday May 31, 2022, at JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME LTD., 2830 Main St., Beallsville, where a blessing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Yuhas officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Roscoe American Legion. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
