Edward Gladys – Monessen

Edward Gladys, 93, of Monessen, passed peacefully on March 4, 2021, in Allegheny Health Network West Penn Hospital Pittsburgh. Born in Monessen on Oct. 18, 1927, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Owsiany Gladys. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, the Polish National Alliance and the VFW. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co., Monessen plant. Ed was affectionately called “Uncle Fud” and felt blessed with his nieces and nephews, whom he liked helping out in any way he could, whether moving them to and from college or rescuing them if the car had broken down. He was also very proud of his Polish heritage. He remained a member of the Polish Heritage Club for many years and loved attending all the events, along with listening to polka music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Joseph and John Gladys. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022, at Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. ROBERT A.
