Richard D. ‘Slappy Pappy’ Eyles – Monongahela

Richard D. “Slappy Pappy” Eyles, 65, of Monongahela, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2022, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Detroit, Mich., on July 26, 1956, to the late Ronald and Joyce Stewart Eyles. He graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1974. Rick served three years as a U.S. Marine, and after returning home he worked as a mail carrier for Monessen Post Office until his retirement in 2005. A member of Mingo Presbyterian Church in Finleyville, he enjoyed collecting and shooting firearms, going to the Meadows, his Triumph motorcycle, reading about history and military history, but most of all attending school and sporting events for his two grandchildren. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Jay Yocolano of Charleroi; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and wife Maureen Eyles of New Jersey; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Robin (Joe) Jones of Connecticut, Janet (Rich) Bradfield of New Jersey and Carol Jean Goff of Florida; his two grandchildren, Dominick and Juliet Yocolano; two sisters-in-law, Donna Eyles of Alabama and Laurie Budney of Centerville; a brother-in-law, Greg Budney of Bethel Park; grandma of Juliet and Dominick, Lari McIntosh of Monongahela; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife, Jacquelyn (Budney) Eyles, who died Oct. 21, 1989; a son, William D. Eyles, who died Sept. 25, 2009; three brothers, Rusty, Gary and Denny Eyles; and a brother-in-law, Ted Budney.
