Mary Ann McKenna, 82, of Speers, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2022, in her own home, with her loving family by her side. Born in North Charleroi, on April 5, 1939, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late John Bernard O’Neill and Anna Mary Peters. Catholic by faith, Mary Ann was a member of the Saint Andrew Apostle Parish (formerly known as Mary Mother) choir for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Russian Club and the Belgium Club. She enjoyed country music, spending her time outdoors at Ohiopyle and working for Intermediate Unit 1 for various school districts for over 20 years. Surviving to cherish Mary Ann’s memory are her sons, Joseph Bernard McKenna, Charles Andrew McKenna Sr.; and her daughter, Catherine Ann McKenna. Mary Ann also has 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carlton McKenna Jr.; her son, Christopher Lynn McKenna; her sister, Rita O’Neill; her brothers, Joseph Raymond O’Neill, Louis O’Neill and George O’Neill. Mary Ann was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Joshua Joseph McKenna. Friends and family will be received from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., (formerly Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon April 1, 2022, at St. Andrew Apostle Parish, Charleroi site, Seventh Street and Washington Avenue, Charleroi.
