Ruth Jean Dorman, 79, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Orlando, Fla., and her hometown of Smithton, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, after a serious illness. She was born March 26, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Laird D. and Avis R. Dorman. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Dorman. Ruth graduated from South Huntingdon High School. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and her tour of duty was in the states and also in France. After being honorably discharged, she was employed in hospitality, club and restaurant management in the Washington, D.C. area. She moved to Florida, continuing restaurant management before switching to transportation, later owning Dorman Transportation, wheeling around vacationers and many high-profile individuals in Florida before retiring. Surviving to cherish her memory and love are the Pa. Williams family: sister, Patty; nephews, Douglas (Cheryl) and Craig; great nephews, Douglas Jr. and son Blake, Daniel (Tricia) and daughters, Avery and Alyssa; great-niece, Samone Hall, her son Symonte and daughters, Jaila and ZaVinity; several cousins, some dear friends and her classmates, Verna Branthoover and Mary Rose Omasta. In addition to family, Ruth was loved so very much by Liliane LeBreton, her dearest friend and housemate. They became friends when Ruth was in France, while serving in the U.S. Navy, and their friendship reconnected in Florida after 40 years! Also surviving are Ruth’s cousins, Judy, Bob, Tom, Annette, Darryl and Harlan; close dear friends, Hava, Sharon and Larry; her godchildren, Katey and Chris; Ann and Brad, Tina and Jeff, Philip; her good and faithful neighbors, Sunny, Colette and Mandel; and many more in her life. A loving, caring lady was my sister, Ruth, who loved life! She will be dearly missed by all who loved her! Arrangements were made by Good Earth Crematory in Sarasota. Entombment will be made at a later date. JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com.
