Husband charged after woman shot, killed at her Monongahela home

A domestic dispute turned deadly in Monongahela Wednesday — tragically leaving a woman dead and her husband accused of murder.
The Washington County Coroner’s office said Mecca Vaccaro was shot at her Park Avenue home around 8 a.m. She was transported by ambulance to Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:45 a.m., according to Coroner Tim Warco. Her husband, Dennis Vaccaro, 64, is charged with criminal homicide for allegedly shooting his wife in the stomach with his 9mm handgun, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
