John Yevcinez, 93, of Monongahela (Carroll Township), entered into eternal rest—Here I am Lord —on March 17, 2022, in his home. Born Feb. 2, 1929, in Monongahela, he was the son of the late Metro and Sophie (Fedak) Yevcinez. A 1947 graduate of Monongahela High School, John served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 4th Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War. John worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Monongahela for over 30 years until his retirement. An active member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church in Monongahela, he was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post No. 1409 in Monongahela and American Legion Post No. 302 in Monongahela. John is survived by two step-sons, James J. (Laurie Vesley) and Brett A. (Kelly) Colagiovanni, both of Monongahela; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Jenna Colagiovanni; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife (his polka sweetheart) Jayne (Helon) Yevcinez, who died Nov. 8, 2009; four sisters, Mary Gresham, Ann Stanko, Helen Martello and Sue Estock; and five brothers, Mike and Chuck Stanko and Andy, Ed and Jim Yevcinez. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday March 20. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2022, beginning at 11 a.m. Condolences can be made at marshallmarrafuneralhome.com.
