It’s Etched in Stone: Mondays were wash days

Once upon a time, clothespins were actually used for something other than dropping into milk bottles at a child’s party. They were used to hang laundered clothes across lawns and basements from New York to Los Angeles. In Monessen, my Dad was busy providing for the family at the Pittsburgh steel mill. I was either at our neighborhood lot at 1st Street chasing fly balls or behind my desk at the Iowa elementary school learning the three Rs.
