Thomas Phillip Weiss, 90, of Dunlevy, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born in Charleroi on June 11, 1931, Tom was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Krisko Weiss. After graduating from high school, Tom served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, Tom worked as a switching supervisor for Bell Telephone until his retirement. Catholic by faith, Tom served as a sacristan at Saint Cyril and Methodius, Mary Mother of the Church and Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish. He was a member of the 10th Street A.C., Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, but what was truly most important to Tom was spending time with his family, whom he loved with all his heart. Surviving to cherish Tom’s memory are his daughter, Nancy (Robert) Bernstein; his family with whom he made his home, daughter, Eileen (Matt) Claybaugh and granddaughters Brittany and Maria Claybaugh; his brother, Leo Weiss of Texas; sister-in-law, Elvira Weiss; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elaine; and son, Sgt. Thomas P. Weiss Jr.; brothers, Gabriel, Daniel, Joseph and Mark Weiss; and sisters, Mary Henrion, Martha Mazzei, Teresa Bartolotta, Sr. Anne Weiss OFS and Sr. Carmaletta Weiss. Friends and family will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at St. Andrew Apostle Parish, Charleroi site, Seventh Street and Washington Avenue, Charleroi. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 863765, Orlando, FL 32886, www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc/donate. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hogan-melenyzer.com.
