Ernest G. Goettel, 98, of Elizabeth, passed away on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at Bridgeville Rehabilitation and Care Center. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired pipefitter for U.S. Steel Clairton Works. Born May 3, 1923, in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Edmund and Bertha Achtzehn Goettel and husband of the late Katherine “Betty” Gee Goettel. He is survived by daughter, Michelle (Frank) Pipak of O’Hara Township; sister, Alma Jarvis of Monessen; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Charlotta Cain, Iva Metz, Emma Joll and Yvonne “Bonnie” Garvin; and brothers, Brinton, Emmett “Bill” and Edmund Goettel.
