John Butti, 100, of Monongahela, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022. He was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Morgan, the son of Giovanni and Marianina Cozzi Butti. John owned and operated the Valley Inn Lounge from 1971 to 1986. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was well known for his homemade raviolis and pasta that he took great enjoyment in making for others. He is survived by his daughter, Carole Grant and husband Bill of Viera, Fla.; grandsons, Jeffrey Grant of Myrtle Beach, S.C., William Grant of Brodheadsville, Pa., and Daniel Grant of Virginia Beach, Va.; granddaughter, Sarah Hunter Gilling of Forrest City, N.C.; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley LeClair Butti, who died Nov. 2, 2017; son, Michael Butti Hunter; three brothers, Elmer, Guido and Edward Butti; and two sisters, Margaret Baxter and Mary Loncaric. Inurnment was in Monongahela Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
