Fred Shawl, 84, of McKeesport, died Feb. 23, 2022, at Hempfield Manor. Born Dec. 23, 1937, in Mc-Keesport, he was the son of the late James Glenn Shawl and Ethel Dingledine Shawl and husband of the late Barbara Gobbels Shawl. Fred was retired from Vesely Brothers Moving & Storage. He was a member of Kephart United Methodist Church and a lay pastor with the church. He was the president of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship. Fred was a kind, compassionate, hard-working man of faith who loved his family and friends. He also loved his late dog, Keshon, and granddog, Tiki. Fred is survived by children, James W. (Linda) Shawl, Dr. Timothy F. Shawl and Kimberly Shawl; grandchildren, Alissa (Dan) Garcia, James (Emily) Shawl, Lauren Shawl, Brandon Shawl and Nicholas Shawl; great-grandson, Grant; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Glenn Shawl, Bob Shawl, Don Shawl, Dolores “Sis” Darr and Harry Shawl; and daughter-in-law, Jo-Zetta Shawl. Family and friends will be received at JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY in McKeesport from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The funeral service will be private.
