Franklin Paul Reese Jr. – New Eagle

By obits

Franklin Paul Reese Jr. of New Eagle, passed away at home on Feb. 10, 2022. He was born in Pittsburgh, Oct. 18, 1932, the second child to the late Frank Preston Reese and Leona Pearl Higgenbotham Reese. Paul graduated from Shanksville High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Virginia Kimmel. Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for 30 years at U.S. Steel Clairton Works as a motor inspector in electrical maintenance. After retirement, he volunteered with the “Over the Hill Gang” that maintains the GAP trail out of the West Newton visitor center. Paul loved to laugh and enjoyed making jokes while keeping a straight face and watching for the listener’s reactions. More than that, he loved children and his family and worked with his wife, Joanne, to coordinate family reunions and research a family tree (before the Internet made it easy). Joanne was the love of his life and they were married for 48 years until she passed. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne; granddaughter, Tiffany Hungerford; daughter, Eleanor Dehoff; and siblings, Alice Alleman, John E. Reese, Ronald Reese and Harry Reese. He is survived by two children, Roberta Hungerford of Charleroi and Franklin Reese III and wife Mary of Lebanon, N.J.; and a son-in-law, James Dehoff of Littlestown. He also leaves behind two siblings, Virginia Fonda and Jay Reese (Linda); grandchildren, Jennifer Dehoff (Ashley), Jonathan Dehoff (Laura), James Hungerford (Claudia), Katherine Reese and David Reese; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no services at this time. The family plans to hold a memorial service in July. FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC. was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to “CURE Childhood Cancer” in his name. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
