By obits

Carl L. Neil, 87, died in Greensburg on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was the husband of Nancy Neil for 65 years; the father of an infant daughter; the son of Clyde and Yolanda Pesi Neil; and the brother of Clyde E. Neil. Carl was born on Feb. 6, 1935, in North Belle Vernon, which was always home to him. He graduated from Bellmar High School (Belle Vernon Area School District). After his service in the Army, he attended Point Park College in Pittsburgh and graduated with an Associate Degree in Accounting. His 28 years of employment were in the Bessemer Lake Erie Railroad and subsequent U.S. Steel Railroad offices in Pittsburgh and Monroeville. Carl was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Latrobe, where he enjoyed golfing with friends. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes. In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Neil of Harvey Cedars, N.J.; his nieces, Debra (John) Melusky of Harvey Cedars, N.J., and Darlene Neil of Slatington, Pa.; and his cousins from the Pesi and Neil families. In honor of Carl’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at Lakeview, 6153 State Route 30, Greensburg, PA 15601, at 1 p.m. Feb. 19, 2022. Please RSVP to Nancy by Feb. 16, 2022.  Please have a favorite remembrance of Carl for sharing. Special thanks must go to Carl’s cousins for their caring and concern, and his neighbors who supported him in every way. Excellent care was provided by the doctors in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh and by the nurses from Amedisys Hospice. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Greensburg-Hempfield Area Library. Arrangements have been entrusted to FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
