Janet Lee Stevenson, 67, of Monessen, passed away on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, peacefully in her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 13, 1954, in Charleroi, daughter of the late William M. and Rosalie Robinsky Salak, who survives. Janet was a 1972 graduate of Monessen Senior High School. She enjoyed gardening, being at the beach, traveling with her husband and family, and most of all cherished her four grandchildren. She was active in First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon, where she previously served on the church council, was active with the children’s outreach program including Bible school and breakfast with Santa and held numerous spaghetti dinners as church fundraisers. Janet volunteered and served Meals on Wheels for the Monessen community. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Timothy P. Stevenson; daughters, Shelly Rhome and husband Matthew of Monessen, and Carrie Anderson and husband Brian of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Caitlynn Anderson, Audrey Rhome, Abigail Rhome and Zachary Anderson; sister, Doris Opalinski; brothers, Michael and Frank Salak; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and her beloved dog, Maddie. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, with the Rev. Conrad Auel officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks memorial contributions be made to the Musculoskeletal Oncology Laboratory in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh: University of Pittsburgh, attn: Musculoskeletal Oncology Laboratory, P.O.
