By obits

Ronald John D’Angelo, 82, passed away on Thursday, Jan 27, 2022. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Catherine Huntington D’Angelo, whom he met in college; loving father of Karen D’Angelo Yochum (Greg) of Cranberry Township and John D’Angelo (Lori McElhaney) of Moon Township; proud “Gpa” of Nicholas John and Haley Nicole Yochum and Carlye Mae and Logan John D’Angelo. He was the only child of the late Carlo and Orlena Pietrangeli D’Angelo. After graduating from Monessen High School in 1957, Ron continued his studies at Carnegie Institute of Technology (aka Carnegie Mellon University), graduating with a mechanical engineering degree. He served as president of the Mechanical Engineering Honor Society and treasurer of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Ron was proud to be a member of the exclusive Mensa society. Upon graduation, Ron had lived and worked in six states for companies including General Electric, Lockheed Martin, Dravo and J&L Steel Company (LTV) before beginning a career in energy marketing until retirement. Many who knew Ron will remember him for his social nature, confidence, quick wit and as a family man with a big presence and humorous stories. He much loved his wife and was very proud of his children and grandchildren, all whom equally loved him and held him in the deepest respect. Ron was a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder since 1972, an avid reader and enjoyed vacationing. He was known to frequent the lakeshores in Upstate New York, as well as the Atlantic Oceanside of Rehoboth Beach. Ron’s athletic, competitive drive and humorous personality could be seen on the tennis courts and golf courses. Ron was a member of Montour Country Club, where he enjoyed entertaining business associates and playing many rounds of golf, especially with his son. Ron shared a love of sports cars with his son-in-law and liked taking friends and family for a ride in his classic Mazda RX7 turbo, red, of course. He will be greatly missed. Arrangements were entrusted to R.D. COPELAND FUNERAL HOME LTD.
