George H. Crompton Jr. – Finleyville and Palm Bay, Fla.

On Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, George H. Crompton Jr., of Finleyville and Palm Bay, Fla., passed away at age 83 in Florida. George was born in 1938 to George and Rose Crompton in Monongahela. He graduated from Monongahela High School in 1956 and from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1958. From 1963 until his retirement in 2006, he was the owner and president of Photographics Supply Inc. in McKeesport and a prominent member of regional and national photography organizations. He served the community for several decades as a board member of the Washington County Hospital Authority and was active in his church as a vestry member, warden and Diocesan Board member. George will be remembered for his kindness and generosity by anyone who met him. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice June Crompton, née Van Voorhis, and their children, Laurel Wright and George Crompton III. George leaves behind a loving family, including his sister, Carole Schuster; five grandchildren, Katherine, Jonathan, George IV, Joshua and Audrey; four great-grandchildren, Lydia, Maeve, George V and John; and countless other family members who will treasure his memory. A memorial service will be scheduled in the coming months. Those wishing to honor George’s memory are requested to donate to the nonprofit Mingo Cemetery Corporation, 526 Mingo Church Road, Finleyville, PA 15332 or to their charity of choice.
