Amid cash crunch, Monessen mayor pays to fuel city’s vehicle fleet

The City of Monessen is in the middle of a financial crisis and with another winter storm on the way, the mayor stepped in Wednesday to avoid a potential disaster. During last week’s council meeting, the city was able to pay a certain amount of bills thanks to incoming garbage bill payments.
Among those bills were the credit cards that city employees, firefighters and police officers use to fill city vehicles.
