Ralph Kaye Nutt – Monessen, formerly of North Charleroi

Ralph Kaye Nutt, 91, of Monessen, formerly of North Charleroi, passed away peacefully at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital on Jan. 29, 2022. Born on July 28, 1930, in Freeport, Ralph is the son of the late Mary Leola Stover and Ralph Enos Nutt. Ralph was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle parish, Charleroi site, and served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy. He was a 50-year member of the United Association Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 354. As a welder, Ralph was personally selected on the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. An avid Steelers fan, Ralph attended many games, including when he witnessed the Immaculate Reception in 1972. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Umbel and son, Ronald (Barbara) Nutt; his sister Karen (Thomas) Taylor; and grandchildren, Virginia (Bill) Dutra, Kimberly (Brett) Thomas, Anthony (Kelly) Argirakis and Charmaine (Joe) Sopcak; as well as his great-grandchildren, Mason and Liam Dutra, Rocco and Adia Argirakis and Shane and Alisyn Drake. Ralph is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Arlene Nutt and Wanda Scaccia; his daughter-in-law, Karen Nutt; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Brokaw Nutt; his son, Richard Jerome Nutt; brother, James Nutt; sister, Lois Matafka; half sister, Ella Florence McBride; and his stepgrandson, Jason Drake. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at St. Andrew Apostle Parish, Charleroi Site, Seventh Street and Washington Avenue, Charleroi.
