Pauline DeRose – Monessen

By obits

Pauline DeRose, 89, of Monessen, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022. She was born Sept. 28, 1932, in German Township, the daughter of Frank and Frances Minutula DeBartolo. Pauline was a graduate of Greensburg High School. She was also a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Monessen, where she was active in the Epiphany Ladies. Pauline began her career with Bell Telephone Company in Charleroi as a switchboard operator until its closing. She continued working for Bell Telephone Company in Pittsburgh, where she retired with over 40 years of employment. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Mon Valley Hospital and a member of the former Italian Heritage Society of Monessen. She also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society in Monessen for 20 years. The matriarch of the family, Pauline enjoyed being surrounded by her loved ones. Despite her large Italian family, she always had time for everyone. She lovingly raised her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; she never missed an accomplishment, school function, dance recital or basketball game. She loved cooking and hosting family dinners and holidays. Her recipe boxes were filled to the brim and you never left her home hungry. When she wasn’t spending her downtime baking or crocheting, Pauline could be found cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Her humble heart, feisty attitude and joyful spirit will forever be missed. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Armand DeRose, with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 25, 2021; son, Armand DeRose Jr. and wife Jerri Lynn of Farmington, N.M.; daughter, Pamela DeRose Behanna and husband Kevin of Monongahela; four grandchildren, Olivia, Amara and Davine Behanna, all of Monongahela, and Jillian Wareham and husband Alan of Monessen; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Logan Wareham; sister, Jennie Miller and husband William of Huron, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Mance and Josephine Chandler; and a brother, Samuel DeBartolo. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. Funeral prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela, with the Rev. Kevin Dominik as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, 1701 Grand Blvd., Monessen, PA 15062. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
