Lights out: No contest for Hounds

A power outage in the city of Monessen provided quite a few challenges as the Greyhounds’ girls basketball team hosted Fort Cherry Wednesday night. The power inside the Monessen High School gym went out right before the opening tip-off, forcing the usage of generators to provide light for the contest. The game was played without a scoreboard and when the generators went out with 2:07 left in the game, coaches agreed to call the game with Fort Cherry holding a 50-47 lead over Monessen.
