John ‘Bucky’ ‘Uncle Buck’ Kendall Jr. – Washington, Pa., formerly of Elco

John “Bucky” “Uncle Buck” Kendall Jr. of Washington, Pa., formerly of Elco, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at Washington Hospital. He was born in Elco on July 21, 1948, son of the late John and Norma Aldous Kendall Sr. Bucky was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Navy. He was retired from the Department of Environmental Protection as an inspector. Previously, he had worked for the FBI Forensics Unit and as a chemist for the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Lab. He was a proud member of American Legion Post No. 801 in Roscoe. Bucky is survived by his wife, Verna Ewing Kendall; a daughter, Adena (Waji Anwar) Kendall of Raleigh, N.C.; a stepson, Patrick (Cindy) Gaynard of Greentree; two step-grandchildren, Veronica and Patrick Gaynard; and two brothers, Robert “Bobby” (Corky) Kendall of Coal Center, and George (Dana) Kendall of Manor. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, with a 2 p.m. memorial service with Pastor Brian Carroll presiding. American Legion Post No. 801 in Roscoe will hold its service immediately after the memorial service in the funeral home. Interment will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil.
